Dr. Atul Kumar Ojha, Ph.D.

Atul Kumar Ojha, a postdoctoral fellow at University College Dublin, Ireland, researches 3D in vitro models for wound healing and large tissue constructs. He earned his Ph.D. from IIT Kharagpur, focusing on a cervix analogue for cervical atresia using tissue engineering. With a B.Tech in Biotechnology from S.H.I.A.T.S., Allahabad, and an M.Tech in Nanoscience from Pondicherry Central University, he also studied protein fibrillation at IIT Guwahati. Dr. Ojha develops grafts for bone and skin regeneration, has numerous high-impact publications, and received a grant from the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research. He founded student-led community service groups Sarth and SAMVAAD at IIT Kharagpur and actively engages in community initiatives.

Community service initiatives SARTH and Samvaad at IIT Kharagpur

Samvaad Initiative

SOCIAL HANDLES:

Samvaad envisions becoming a beacon of intellectual enlightenment, bridging the realms of culture, history, science, technology, and society. Samvaad aspires to be the catalyst for holistic student development and welfare, envisioning a campus where intellectual discourse transcends boundaries. Our vision is to create an inclusive platform where students, faculty, and external experts converge for enriching conversations across culture, history, science, technology, and society.

SARTH Initiative

SOCIAL HANDLES:

SARTH, a student-led community service initiative at IIT Kharagpur, focuses on environmental protection and sustainable development. Key activities include:

    Tree Plantation Drives:

    Conducted annually on World Environment Day, SARTH has successfully planted hundreds of saplings across the campus, involving faculty, students, and staff in the effort to enhance campus greenery and promote environmental awareness.

  • 02

    Narda Sustainable Development Project:

    This initiative aimed at uplifting a tribal village school by providing essential educational materials, conducting creative workshops, and establishing a financial model for self-sustainability through leaf bowl manufacturing. This project not only supported the school but also empowered local women by providing them with employment opportunities.

    Gopali Ashram Solid Waste Management Project:

    SARTH members worked with orphan children at the Gopali Ashram to promote hygiene and environmental consciousness. The project included building a biogas plant to utilize organic waste, which helped reduce LPG costs and supported the ashram's welfare activities.
